okay...semalam wahh, i stayed up till 4.00 am. ni lah..this is why i do not want to blog hop ke mende..hehe. because then i will get sucked into the online world and disregard the much needed sleep. i managed to visit most of the places or blogs rather, that i have missed the past mth or so. and insyallah, i will be a bit more regular. maybe not like before but i will leave my mark here and there lah.
a few things. first, i have made the blueberry scones. later i will put up the recipe. i have also taken the pic, but have not downloaded it onto the system yet. sebab..i malas nak turun bawah amik the kamera which is in my bag. the scones are moist and the tangy lemon galze compliments nicely to the lemakness of the scones and the taste of blueberries. note on making scones, just like making biscuits, DO NOT OVER KNEAD....hehe. i know that kiter orang melayu when it comes to uli tepung, cam wahhh...bersungguh2..ada yang put all the body weight into it..hahahaha...pastu tepung berterabur all over the place lah. ni kan..you only have to mix it alah kadar jer. kalau ada yang bersepai2 sikit tu..let it be. they will cook up nicely. hokay..
next, i am almost done painting the rooms. so next week ingatkan nak concentrate on the two lower bedrooms. and oso the bathroom. we have torn up most of the flooring and *sigh*..malaslah nak citer pasal the previous ownner. it seems that he, was very bochap and from what i gathered, he cut all corners to save some money. if the thing that is done lasts..kira okaylah, but now, we discovered that they use wall board paste under the linoleum. okay..kene check spelling for that word japs..but then , i don't know why i bother sebab i am sure typo berlambak kat sini..hahahha. so can you imagine after 3 years of living here, and with kids bathing and water overspilling..how mouldy and soggy the whole thing is..sib baik lah i am not allergic to it..kalau tak habis ler hidung sik bersin jer. and i nekad, kalau doc takes his own sweet time to complete this home improvement project, i am going to just go ahead and do it. i can oso use powertools you know..hahaha..except if i have to put in those butterflies thingy..apa tu..brace ah that's it..tu i tak tau nak agak how big a hole to drill.
ni sambung kat rumah pulak ..tadi yang kat atas tu time kat leberi.
apa eh nak citer..oh yes..i dah ada hobby baru..jeng jeng jeng jeng....i am making my own jewellery. ni tengah2 try test nih. and so far i am enjoying it. yang jadi tukang model sapa tau..si sarah dengan si sarinah. wahhh cik sarinah kiter kan..kalau takder pe gerenti pakai gelang baru...rantai baru...hahaha. ni i tengah nak go on to the next stage. ingatkan nak amik gambar..but bitamen M dah masuk kat dalam badan ni..so next taim ajer lah eh...
besok komperm posa kat sini. so karang nanti insyallah nak kena bangun sahur. sekarang dah pukul 2.22 pagi..see lah..the dangers of me getting online. melekat kat sini sampai tetengah malam. but alhamdullillah..malam ni kan best gitu. indah nyer..rasa hati dan jiwa tenteram. hujan japs tadi and it is nice and cool. agaknyer alam semesta ni pun tengah sambut hari pertama bulan ramadhan yang mulia.
hartini i janji nak taruk gambar kan..tulah..tadi i tulis yang semalam i malas nak turun amik beg..nampak gayanyer..malam ni kan sama jugaklah..ahhaha. but i will post the resepi. gambar tu kendian hari eh. insyallah lah :) tulah..i ni macam2 projek i nak buat..but pelan2..orang cina kata man man ahhh..kah kah kah...as you can see betapa gembira nyer i malam ni..ahhhh..nikmat bulan spesel ni...oh by the way..since i lom download gambar scones tu, ni ah gambar sri lankan chicken curry. first tasted sri lankan nyer curry time kat saipan. adalah this sri lankan muslim family. hub engineer kat hotel hyatt. so she masak lauk kari ikan..wahhh..shiok. ni resepi i dapat from the book i got in winnipeg. best :)
anyway, here's the resepi for the blueberry scones.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. in celsius it is 200 degrees. okay..i think gas no 6 tak...you need to check the manual for your oben hokay?
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold, cut in chunks
1 cup heavy cream, plus more for brushing the scones ( this you can sub with just plain milk. )
1 cup fresh blueberries (this frozen oso can)
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
1 lemon, zest finely grated
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Sift together the dry ingredients; the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Using 2 forks or a pastry blender, cut in the butter to coat the pieces with the flour. The mixture should look like coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center and pour in the heavy cream. Fold everything together just to incorporate; do not overwork the dough. Fold the blueberries into the batter. Take care not to mash or bruise the blueberries because their strong color will bleed into the dough.
Press the dough out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 12 by 3 by 1 1/4 inches. Cut the rectangle in 1/2 then cut the pieces in 1/2 again, giving you 4 (3-inch) squares. Cut the squares in 1/2 on a diagonal to give you the classic triangle shape. Place the scones on an ungreased cookie sheet and brush the tops with a little heavy cream. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until beautiful and brown. Let the scones cool a bit before you apply the glaze.
Mix the lemon juice and confectioners' sugar together in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the lemon zest and butter. Nuke it for 30 seconds on high. Whisk the glaze to smooth out any lumps, then drizzle the glaze over the top of the scones. Let it set a minute before serving.
